Help fund travel for immigration attorneys and interpretation services for immigrants.

Dear John,

So many of you have been asking how you can do something to help as immigrants are being vilified, attacked, detained, and deported every day.

Today we are announcing the Immigration Justice Campaign Access Fund—a new way for you to pitch in.

The money raised for the Access Fund will cover two urgent needs:

  • Travel for our volunteer attorneys to attend hearings

  • Interpretation services beyond the scope of what our volunteers can cover.

Travel Needs

We are now turning clients down because we don’t have funds to cover volunteer travel. Our attorneys can represent most of our clients remotely—but some immigration courts require in-person appearances, and we expect that number to grow. Whether someone gets a lawyer should not depend on which isolated detention center the government decides to send them to. The Access Fund will provide stipends to attorneys who are willing and able to go fight for their clients in person.

Interpretation Needs

Our interpretation needs have grown beyond what our volunteer pool can cover. We need interpreters covering many different languages on short notice and with unpredictable timelines. The Access Fund will cover the cost of professional interpreters to supplement the work of our volunteers.

Thank you for considering a donation to the IJC Access Fund. The government is trying to intimidate immigration attorneys, but we’re going to keep working for our clients. With your help, we’ll be able to represent more of them.

Sincerely,

Bekah Wolf
Director, Immigration Justice Campaign
