Right now, there are people held at Rikers Island caged in tiny showers,
sleeping on excrement-smeared floors, and they are being subjected to
dangerously inhumane environments that will impact their mental health and
wellness for years to come.

These are our fellow human beings—and they are being treated without
respect, decency, or dignity.

Rikers has a long-standing history of dangerous conditions for
