John, this is Randy Villegas.

I’m a son of the Central Valley, a college professor, and the proud child of Mexican immigrants who came to this country with nothing but hope and grit.

Today, I’m proud to announce that I’m running for Congress in California’s 22nd District -- one of the most competitive races in the country, and one that could make or break the Democratic majority in the House.

If that’s all you need to hear, I’m humbly asking you to chip in $10 between my campaign and Voter Protection Project. Every contribution -- no matter the size -- will help power a grassroots campaign fueled by working people, not corporate PACs.

For far too long, our Central Valley home has been left behind by politicians more in love with power than people -- and billionaires who put profits ahead of our communities.

Like most here, I was born into a working-class family.

I went to public schools in the Valley -- Everything I am and everything I have is because of this incredible place I get to call home.

But while our Valley feeds the world, our workers are struggling to feed their families. Wages stay the same while costs keep rising.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has given the world’s richest man free rein to gut Social Security and Medicaid. They want to strip millions of their health care and take food out of hungry kids’ mouths -- all to pass more tax cuts for billionaires.

It’s sick, John, and our representative, David Valadao, should be fighting back. Instead, he’s been silent -- because the same billionaires hurting us are funding his campaign.

Working people deserve a champion in Congress.

We need a government that works for us -- not against us.

Our families, our farmers, our veterans, and our kids deserve better.

That’s why I’m running, and I’m not taking a dime of corporate PAC money -- because I want to be part of the solution, not another part of the problem.
