Dear Friend,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update.
On behalf of our family, I want to wish
you a Happy Easter and Passover. I hope you take time to celebrate
with family and friends.
As President Ronald Reagan once
said, "Observing the rites of Passover and Easter, we're linked
in time to the ancient origins of our values and to the unborn
generations who will still celebrate them long after we're
gone."

On Thursday, I joined “Mornings with
Maria” on Fox Business to discuss President Donald J. Trump's
push for a “big, beautiful” tax reform bill—and why it’s critical we
get it done. I also called out the madness of Senator Van Hollen
prioritizing a MS-13-linked illegal immigrant over protecting the
wellbeing of Americans.
It’s time to refocus on what matters:
economic growth, public safety, and putting our America First. Click
here or below to watch my interview.

Tuesday was Tax Day, and we were reminded
of the real risk American families face if Congress fails to extend
President Donald J. Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).
Passed in 2017, the TCJA delivered the
largest middle-class tax cut in U.S. history, reduced taxes for the
lowest-income Americans by 10%, and drove the fastest two-year growth
in real wages in two decades—all while helping lower wealth
inequality.
If Congress allows these tax cuts to
expire, a family of four in Pennsylvania will be forced to pay an
additional $1,491 in taxes each year.
Additionally, small businesses would
benefit by the extension of several provisions, like 100% bonus
depreciation and the section 199A small business deduction, which
would allow for greater reinvestment and growth for these
businesses.
House Republicans are fighting to extend
the TCJA and keep life affordable for hardworking American
families.

Later, I stopped by Newsmax’s
“Wake Up America.” Senator Van Hollen never reached out to his own
constituent, Patty Morin, after her daughter Rachel was brutally
murdered in Maryland by an illegal immigrant. And instead of standing
with Patty and other Angel Moms, he’s flying to El Salvador to
advocate for another illegal immigrant—one with MS-13 ties and a
history of domestic abuse.
Talk about a misappropriation of
priorities and being completely out of touch with America. Click
here or below to watch.

Democrats are lost. Coming off of their
crushing defeat last November, they still have not found their
footing. Proving they are out-of-touch with the American public... and
also the truth. This week's latest example comes from Janet Yellen who
opined on the economy. Does she ever get tired of being so wrong?
Janet
Yellen, April 14, 7:33AM: “Perhaps it’s to bring back American
manufacturing, but I really think that’s a pipe dream and not
something that is likely to be accomplished.”
Nvidia
Announcement, April 14, 9:02AM: “For the first time, Nvidia’s
supercomputers will be built entirely in the U.S. – working with
leading manufacturing partners to design and build factories.”

This week, I joined the “The Bob Cordaro
Show” on WILK Newsradio. I shared highlights from yesterday’s
agriculture roundtable with Secretary Brooke Rollins, where we heard
directly from local producers about the challenges and opportunities
facing Pennsylvania farmers. We also discussed President Trump’s
latest pro-growth policies, the disgraceful arson attack at the
Governor’s residence, and several other key issues impacting our
nation. Click

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: President Trump hosted Salvadoran President
Nayib Bukele earlier this week at the White House, where they’ll
showcase their historic partnership to
make the world a safer place.
Thanks to the two leaders, scores
of violent illegal immigrant killers, rapists, gang members, and other
sick criminals have been swiftly taken off our streets.

Here is a tiny sample
of the cold-blooded criminals deported to El Salvador:
-
Jorge Luis Guerrero-Quintero, a Venezuelan national
and confirmed Tren de Aragua gang member, convicted of raping a
14-year-old girl, second-degree assault with intent to cause physical
injury, second-degree menacing with a weapon, and criminal possession
of a weapon.

Kerwin Arturo Leal-Estrada, a Venezuelan national and
confirmed Tren de Aragua gang member, whose social media accounts show
him displaying gang tattoos and signs, holding firearms, and revealing
an apparent gunshot wound.

and confirmed Tren de Aragua gang member, convicted on making false
statements, making terroristic threats, domestic battering,
interfering with emergency communications, and theft.

and one of the MS-13 gang’s original “Twelve
Apostles of the Devil.”

disorderly conduct.
-
Victor Ortega-Burbano, a Venezuelan national and Tren
de Aragua gang member with pending charges for discharge of a firearm

President Trump and Congressional
Republicans are committed to securing our borders and prioritizing
national security. The American people voted for secure borders, safe
streets, and law and order last November. President Trump is
delivering on his promises.
Around the District:
On Monday, I spent the morning at Talview
Farms in Lebanon, to tour a local, family-owned dairy operation that
plays an important part in supporting Pennsylvania’s thriving dairy
industry.
Alongside Chairman G.T. Thompson,
Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, and Senator Dave McCormick, I
met with Stacey and Brent Copenhaver, the owners of Talview Farms. I
heard directly about the realities of life on the farm—from the
challenges of running a modern dairy operation to the contributions
they make to both the local economy and American agriculture.
We’re working together to advance the
Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, commonsense legislation that expands
students' access to nutritious milk and strengthens family farms like
Talview across the country.

My second stop of the day was Bell &
Evans in Fredericksburg, where I joined Secretary of Agriculture
Rollins, Senator McCormick, Congressman Thompson, and Congressman
Bresnahan for a tour of the facility. Bell & Evans, a family-run
operation known for its organic, hormone-free, antibiotic-free
chicken, has been a staple in the community for decades and employs
1,800 residents.
We discussed the challenges facing the
poultry industry, including bird flu prevention, and heard from owner
Scott Sechler and his family about the measures they’re taking to
mitigate these outbreaks.
Thank you to Scott and the entire Bell
& Evans team for welcoming us and for building one of the most
innovative and respected poultry operations in the country.

Later, I hosted a productive agriculture
roundtable in Myerstown with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Rollins,
Senator McCormick, Chairman Thompson, Congressman Bresnahan, and State
Senator Chris Gebhard.
We met with local producers and ag
leaders to discuss the issues that matter most to Pennsylvania
farmers—overregulation, trade access, risk management, dairy pricing
reform, labor shortages, and more.
This was about listening and delivering
results. Together with Secretary Rollins and our congressional
partners, we’re advancing President Trump’s pro-farmer agenda to
support small farms, strengthen food security, and ensure agriculture
remains a cornerstone of Pennsylvania’s economy.
Thank you to all the farmers and
producers who participated—and for feeding our Commonwealth and our
country.

Additionally, Secretary Rollins was asked
about federal funding for food for Pennsylvanians in need. This
question came after Governor Josh Shapiro has repeatedly stated that
federal cuts were going to cause people to suffer. Secretary Rollins
was very upset and stated that, although she has respect for Governor
Shapiro, what he is stating about that issue is false and that he’s
playing a political game. There is currently over $17 million in
available funding for food banks. Secretary Rollins is professional,
articulate, smart, and knows the facts. What is particularly
disgraceful about Governor Shapiro's asserting these falsehoods is
that he is blaming President Trump for cutting funding for food for
hungry Pennsylvanians. The truth is that there is strong reason to
believe that Governor Shapiro is the one playing games with it
Spent the afternoon in Lancaster County
at the Bank of Bird-in-Hand, a community bank built around serving the
unique needs of rural Pennsylvania, including the Amish and Mennonite
communities.
From flexible ag lending programs to
their “Gelt Bus”, a fully-equipped mobile bank that brings financial
services directly to farms and small businesses—this is a great
example of how local institutions step up to strengthen access to
capital for the people who feed and fuel our country.
I had a great discussion with Secretary
Rollins, Senator McCormick, Congressman Lloyd Smucker, Congressman
Thompson, and the Bank of Bird-in-Hand’s President & CEO, Lori
Maley, on how we can support rural lenders, modernize farm financing,
and keep Pennsylvania agriculture strong.

On Thursday, I met with the Wells Fargo
team, including their CFO, Mike Santomassimo, at their NYC office to
discuss ways to strengthen access to capital, improve small business
lending, and ensure families and entrepreneurs have the financial
tools they need to succeed.
As Chairman of the Financial Services
Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee, I’m committed to ensuring
our financial institutions are working for the people by expanding
capital access, supporting small business growth, and protecting
consumers from burdensome regulations and unfair practices so that
more Americans can build lasting financial security in today’s
economy.

My second stop in New York City was a
visit with MetLife and their Executive Vice President, Head of
Retirement and Income Solutions, Graham Cox.
We had a great discussion about how to
make it easier for hardworking Americans to save for retirement — from
ensuring nonprofit employees are treated fairly, to providing clear
rules for life insurance.
In Washington, I’ll keep working to
advance policies that make saving easier, lower costs, and protect
American consumers.

I sat down with Bank of America leaders
Robert Munsey, Liz Everett Krisberg, and Sruthi Prabu for a
wide-ranging discussion on the financial landscape—from capital
markets and consumer behavior to regulatory reform and financial
innovation.
We covered the impact of our deficit on
treasury markets and the importance of getting financial rules
right—especially as we look at Basel III implementation and
encouraging engagement in Treasury Markets.
I also appreciated hearing from the Bank
of America Institute about current consumer spending trends, credit
conditions, and deposit flows.
Insightful perspectives from one of the
world’s largest financial institutions as we continue our work on the
Financial Services Committee to ensure competitive markets and
increased access to capital.

May God continue to bless our nation. I
look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan
