John: It's been over a decade since the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Citizens United, a case which opened the door for unlimited, undisclosed, secret special interest money to flood into our political system.
No amount of money should let you tip an election in your favor and then have free rein within our government and its systems.
But right now, that's exactly what we're seeing:
Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire who spent more than $250 million on Trump's campaign, has taken control of much of our government. So as the We the People Amendment is introduced, an amendment to the Constitution that clarifies that corporations are not people, we are gauging public opinion of the allowance of unlimited, undisclosed, secret special interest money to flood into our political system. I think you’re with us on this important issue, right?
Citizens United is an insult to our democracy and allows for billions of dark-money donors to infiltrate our government, John. We need to put power back into the hands of people. But first, we need to know where you stand. So please, respond before midnight tonight:
Do you approve of the Citizens United ruling?
