We are at the start of a constitutional crisis. Donald Trump is defying a 9-0 Supreme Court order to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to the United States.

By now, you've likely heard about Kilmar , a Salvadoran immigrant granted legal protected status in 2019 by a Trump-appointed judge. Yet nearly a month ago, Kilmar was abducted by federal agents, deported without a hearing , and sent to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador with no charges, no due process, and no explanation.

When the administration admitted Kilmar’s deportation was an "administrative error" , they still did nothing. Now they’re ignoring the Supreme Court.

It’s unprecedented and dangerous for our Democracy. This is not just about one man, this is about the rule of law and basic human rights.

Senator Chris Van Hollen made great progress last night when he was able to actually meet with Kilmar for a wellness check. This just goes to show, the pressure is working! I thank Senator Van Hollen for his courage and persistence in this fight. Now let’s keep it going.

Republicans have denied my request for a Democratic delegation to visit El Salvador and advocate for Kilmar’s release. But I refuse to stay silent while our Constitution is shredded and innocent lives are destroyed.

Trump has already hinted that American citizens are next.
