Letter from the Mayor

Dear Washingtonians,

This week, we kicked off our annual spring cleaning season, one of my favorite times of the year. As the weather warms up, and more residents and visitors are out enjoying our neighborhoods, we're ensuring that sidewalks, streets, alleys, and parks reflect our pride in DC and the investments we’ve made to keep our city clean, safe, and beautiful.

Every spring, we roll up our sleeves to tackle street sweeping, alley cleanups, pothole repairs, and more. The Department of Public Works is our in neighborhoods that need a little extra attention, the Department of General Services is prepping parks and recreation centers for summer, and the District Department of Transportation is partnering with local utility companies to restore over 2,400 roadways and keep our streets in a state of good repair.

Residents can get involved too. Tomorrow – this Saturday, April 19, just ahead of Earth Day –  join us for our 8th Annual Spring Clean-Up Day. We are activating cleanups in all eight wards, where neighbors will come together to beautify and celebrate our neighborhoods. There will be supplies available, music, and even a few fish fries and block parties. You can RSVP and find a site near you at servedc.galaxydigital.com/event [ [link removed] ], and here’s where we’ll be cleaning across the city:

We all play a role in keeping DC beautiful, so thank you for working with us and doing your part.

Sincerely,

Muriel Bowserjoij
