Email from Rep. McCaul From Our Family to Yours — Wishing you a Blessed Good Friday and Happy Easter My wife Linda and I are wishing all who observe Holy Week a blessed Good Friday as we remember Christ’s sacrifice. As we take time to reflect on the meaning of Good Friday and the promise of Easter, may this weekend bring you and your loved ones peace, renewal, and hope. Whether you’re celebrating with family, attending services, or simply enjoying a moment of rest, we wish you and your loved ones a joyful and blessed Easter. The McCauls Celebrating Easter Wasteful Spending Stopped In Its Tracks: Texas High-Speed Rail Grant Cancelled This week, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the Trump administration terminated the $63.9 million federal grant for the Amtrak Texas High-Speed Rail Corridor. While the project was originally proposed as a private venture connecting Dallas to Houston, it was granted federal funding by the Biden administration — yet another example of the previous administration's wasteful spending. I'm extremely grateful the Trump administration has canceled this grant, which would have imposed an economic injustice on Texas’ landowners — forcing my constituents to subsidize the very project that could strip them of their property. The Texas high-speed rail project has been a disaster from the start, with numerous delays, permitting issues, and ballooning costs. This announcement is a tremendous victory for Texans across my district, who do not need this project and should not be on the hook to fund it. From day one, I've fought to prevent your tax dollars from going toward this runaway train. I will continue working with the administration to safeguard taxpayer dollars and protect the land that Texas’ farmers, ranchers, and landowners tirelessly care for and deserve to keep. Reflecting on a Legacy of Service with Aggieland's Finest Recently, I had the honor of visiting with Texas A&M University President and former Secretary of the Air Force, Mark Welsh. We had a great conversation about the incredible work being done at Texas A&M and the promising future of the entire Texas A&M University System. Congressman McCaul and A&M President Mark Welsh with the Norden Bombsight During our meeting, I had the privilege of sharing a piece of personal and national history with him — my Norden Bombsight. This remarkable instrument was used by B-17 bombardiers like my father to carry out precision bombing missions during World War II. It played a critical role in helping the Allies defeat tyranny and preserve freedom across the globe. For me, this relic is more than just a piece of equipment — it’s a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and the enduring legacy of the Greatest Generation. As the proud son of a WWII veteran, I believe it's vital to honor our military heroes and preserve the stories that shaped our nation’s history. There truly is nothing like connecting with those who’ve served and preserving the American values of service and patriotism. www.mccaul.house.gov Washington, D.C. 2300 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Phone: 202-225-2401 Fax: 202-225-5955 Austin 11614 FM 2244 Suite 160 Austin, TX 78738 Fax: 512-473-0514 College Station 175 Century Square Drive Suite 210 College Station, TX 77840 Phone: (979) 431-6480 Fax: (979) 431-5180 Rep.
