John,
Last weekend in Wichita Falls, over 400 Texas came together for a town hall. Not because their elected officials showed up — but because they didn’t. The state representative, James Frank, and the Congressman, Ronny Jackson, refused to meet with their constituents in open forums.
When Kay from Wichita Falls asked for help bringing her community together, Team Powered By People jumped in. And what we saw looked a lot like our democracy. Democrats, Republicans, Independents — real Texans, ready to fight for their future.
We talked about the Governor’s plan to drain our public schools, cuts to Medicaid, and the threats to veterans at the VA. One woman stood up and said,
“They’re trying to overwhelm us. We need to whelm ‘em the other way!” We couldn’t agree more.
That’s what Powered By People is here to do — help Texans organize, show up, and fight back. When people connect at town halls, protests, and the Capitol, we build the power to protect our communities and take action right now, not years from now. We don’t have to wait until 2026 or 2028. Getting organized, taking action, coming together — that’s where it’s at.
Here are two things we can do this week to keep up the fight:
📬 Texas school board elections are taking place across the state. Early voting begins April 22nd and Election Day is May 3rd. You can find a list of candidates for your school district at this link. Do your research and make a plan to vote. https://ballotpedia.org/School_board_elections_in_Texas
🗳️ Join us in Denton for a town hall. Another community where we can’t get the member of Congress or a state rep to show up. We’re holding the town hall for them on Saturday April 26 in Denton. Republicans, Democrats, Independents — all are welcome. Sign up here: https://www.mobilize.us/poweredxpeople/event/776596
Keep the faith and keep up the fight!
