Dear Friend,
Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media are lying to you about the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
The SAVE Act, which passed out of the House of Representatives last week, simply requires states to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – when registering an individual to vote. The legislation also requires states to purge non-citizens from existing voter rolls.
Despite existing laws that prevent non-citizens from voting in federal elections, states, including Minnesota, continue to find non-citizens on their voter rolls due to inadequate safeguards and complicated guidance from the Federal government.
In 2023, Tim Walz and his Democrat colleagues in the State Legislature passed a law that automatically registers individuals to vote when they apply for or update their driver’s licenses. Also in 2023, Democrats in Minnesota passed a law enabling illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.
Unsurprisingly, this has led to noncitizens appearing on Minnesota voter rolls and, in some cases, even receiving election ballots via mail. In September 2024, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, which works with the Secretary of State to automatically register voters, confirmed that roughly 1,000 automatic voter registration applicant files were inactivated after being flagged as lacking documentation to prove their eligibility.
This isn’t just a problem of noncitizens appearing on voter rolls. A 2014 study that analyzed the 2008 and 2010 elections concluded that not only had noncitizens illegally voted in U.S. elections, but also that the votes of noncitizens likely determined the outcome in certain races.
By passing the SAVE Act, House Republicans are working to ensure that only American citizens vote in American elections and voters across the political spectrum agree. 89% of Americans rightly believe that American elections should only be for American citizens, including 82% of Democrats.
As we continue our work in Washington, rest assured that we will continue to put the American people and American voters first. If our office can ever be helpful to you or your family, please do not hesitate to contact our office in Otsego at (763) 241-6848.
