It’s easy to get caught up in the play-by-play of what Donald Trump is saying and doing. But it is critically important that we not lose sight of the dangerous people he’s empowering to do his bidding.

He’s letting Elon Musk systematically disassemble USAID and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau — agencies whose focus is on helping millions of people. His defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, is making war plans in a non-secure group chat with a journalist present.

This kind of carelessness threatens to leave the U.S. feeble and friendless on the world stage.

But Democrats are fighting back. We recently won special elections in Iowa and Pennsylvania, flipping previously Republican-held seats. The reality of a second Trump administration is setting in for voters, and the clearest path forward is electing Democrats at all levels of government who will check Trump’s power, locally and nationally.

The DNC is leading the way on this work. I hope you’ll consider pitching in to support them.

Letting Trumpism go unchecked in any community is not an option. Democrats can — and must — compete everywhere as we work to protect as many of our friends and neighbors as we can from Trump’s Project 2025 agenda.

The future of our country — and of so many people we care about — depends on it.
