If Donald Trump gets his way, millions of federal workers won’t be serving the American people, they’ll be serving him.

Under a new Executive Order, Trump laid the groundwork for a mass purge of civil servants. He wants to replace experienced, nonpartisan professionals with loyalists who will carry out his agenda, no questions asked.

Trump has said in plain language: he’s coming for the “deep state.” Translation? Scientists at the CDC. Inspectors General who investigate corruption. Veterans’ nurses who speak up about underfunding. Social Security workers who ask hard questions.

The workers who make government work are being fired for doing their jobs because Trump doesn’t want a government that serves the public, he wants one that serves him. We cannot let Trump rewrite the rules of public service.
