Hi John,
We need your help today to fight back against the extreme Trump agenda.
While we were celebrating a pro-conservation, pro-democracy majority with the election of Judge Susan Crawford, the Trump administration put out yet another unconstitutional executive order.
The order directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to examine state and local laws that include words such as "climate change," "environmental justice," "greenhouse gas," and other keywords, then after 60 days provide recommendations to the administration on how to end those policies.
This is a gross unconstitutional overreach that threatens local control and years of our climate work at the local level.
Wisconsinites don’t want this executive order. It could undermine years of progress and money invested into projects and programs that benefit our communities. For example, the City of Green Bay could be hamstrung from cutting red tape for local development of solar projects that lead to lower energy bills for homes and local jobs. Wisconsin added more than 2,000 clean energy jobs in 2023, for a total of more than 73,000 clean energy jobs throughout our state.
Similar to the rest of the Trump intimidation playbook, this creates a chilling effect on state and local governments from taking any future climate actions.
Last week, we immediately started organizing local, state, and federal leaders to stand up for the progress we've made together. Supporters like you have given us the resources to organize voters, elect leaders, and pass local policies to fight climate change. We know clean energy is popular and, with your help, we will not let the Trump administration intimidate us or roll back hard-won progress.
We’re proud you’ve made us Wisconsin’s largest political voice for the environment, but we need your help now more than ever. Please become a sustaining, monthly donor today. Together we can protect Wisconsin's environment from unelected billionaires, fossil fuel CEOs, and Donald Trump.
