Our country is at an inflection point. Donald Trump just defied the Supreme Court’s 9-0 ruling to facilitate the return of a Maryland father after wrongly deporting him to a mega-prison in El Salvador.
I want to make sure people understand that when Trump said he would be a dictator on Day One, when he called for terminating the Constitution, that those weren’t off-hand comments. They were his roadmap. And he’s working day in and day out to fulfill that promise.
So this isn’t a drill, John. Our watershed moment is here, and we must respond with strength. Each and every one of us. Because it doesn’t end with an innocent man – and others like him – being wrongfully deported.
As you read this, Trump is “looking into” deporting “homegrown criminals” who are American citizens. His words, not mine.
But here’s what I want you to remember: We are not powerless. This fight has always been about more than one person in one office. It’s about us — all of us — coming together to build something bigger than ourselves.
That’s exactly why I founded JanePAC: to elect leaders at every level of government who are not only committed to bold, fearless climate action, but — above all — a desire to serve the people who elected them. Each one is a piece of the firewall we’re building against Trump’s cruel agenda.
Together, we’ve already proven that when we rise, we can win. And just like every generation before us, we have a choice to make.
Will we stand idly by while Donald Trump destroys the very bedrock of our democracy? Or, will we come together to speak out for the voiceless?
I know where I stand, and I think you do, too. So here are two actions you can take right now:
I’ve marched, I’ve protested, and I’ve been arrested. I’ve sat across from people in power and demanded change. After all these years, I’m still at it because we are in our documentary moment. And right now, this movement needs you.
In solidarity,
xx Jane
