I first heard about Julie when she turned a heavily red district in Texas into a nail-biter, knocking a 20-point Republican lead down into single digits — and she did it all without taking a single penny from corporate PACs. 

Against all odds, and defying the political insiders who would tell her otherwise, Julie is running a people-first campaign that supports and protects the most marginalized and vulnerable among us. Throughout my run for president, I pointed out that people of color in this country are too often the subject of police violence and brutality — people like George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Atatiana Jefferson, and so many more. In fact, I was the first candidate to release a stand-alone plan to combat police brutality.

Even now, as Texans take to the streets to demand justice and change, too many officers are unnecessarily escalating, deploying violent tactics and overly-harsh responses. I know Julie will be a partner in the fight to demilitarize our police forces, hold police accountable for abuse and excessive force, and begin the healing process in our communities.

But it's going to take all of us joining together to send people-first leaders like Julie to Congress so we can make that change happen. Will you join me?
