Here’s a
Tax Day question for you: Do you want to end up paying a lower effective
tax rate than a billionaire or a giant corporation?

That’s a question about who our government works for: working families, or
a thin slice at the top. And right now, Republicans are scheming to force
through their tax breaks for billionaires and billionaire corporations by
slashing health care for kids, seniors, and people with disabilities.

That’s right: They want to double down on the 2017 Trump tax scam, all
while paying for it off the backs of working people and increasing our
national debt. It’s robbing working families so the richest Americans can
get even richer.

Republicans in Congress want to use “magic math” to pass giant tax cuts,
and then try to turn around and tell the American people those tax cuts
cost nothing. But hard-working Americans understand that trillions of
dollars in tax cuts for billionaires comes with a price tag.

I’m fighting back against this tax scheme.

I joined with Democrats to get the Republicans on the record that they
won’t rule out giving tax cuts to people or corporations making more than
$1 billion.

I led an amendment that opposes final budget legislation raising costs for
middle-class families while an unelected billionaire illegally directs
cuts to key programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and
services for veterans.

And while working to stop the GOP’s billionaire-coddling agenda, I’ve
still got plans to make the positive changes we need to see and tax the
rich. Here’s how just one of those plans would work: for every dollar of
wealth someone has over $50 million, they’d have to chip in two cents —
two cents that would help generate trillions of dollars for the next
decade.

I’ll keep doing everything in my power to make sure billionaires and giant
corporations are paying their fair share, and to stop this billionaire
cashgrab of a GOP tax agenda.

It’s a fight we can win, just like how we defeated Trump’s attempt to
repeal the Affordable Care Act back in 2017. But it’s going to take each
one of us stepping into the ring to fight. It’s going to take every
Democrat stiffening their spines and refusing to give Trump an inch. And
it’s going to take the American people getting loud enough to convince
enough Republicans to do the right thing.

[ [link removed] ]I’m able to stay in this fight because of the support of people like
you. If you’re able to, chip in to support our grassroots campaign and
help build a country that works not just for the wealthy and
well-connected, but everyone.
