[link removed] [[link removed]] John,
You pay taxes. You should know what the government is doing with them.
That's why we're suing.
In case you missed the news: CREW is suing the Office of Management and Budget.
Since 2022, OMB has been required by law to publicly post information about its allocation of taxpayer dollars to agencies throughout the executive branch. Approximately three weeks ago, OMB took down the website housing that information, removing the apportionments database from public view in violation of federal law.
This move has denied CREW and the American public information that is critically important to keeping citizens informed about the activities of government officials and agencies. That makes our government less transparent, and is yet another breach of the separation of powers by the Trump administration. That’s illegal, so we’re taking them to court.

Perhaps unsurprisingly John, Donald Trump is the reason this law exists.
Congress passed the legal requirement to maintain a public database of OMB apportionments in 2022 and 2023, partly in response to the first Trump administration’s use of this authority to illegally withhold funds for security assistance to Ukraine— a withholding that ultimately played a part in Trump’s first impeachment.
Now, the Trump administration has decided it doesn’t like this transparency requirement. So instead of complying with this legally required and much-needed check and balance on the executive branch, they have decided to operate in the dark, concealing from the public any potentially harmful or illegal funding decisions.
Without access to the apportionment website, CREW and other organizations cannot monitor the Trump administration’s actions fully, which is why we’re suing OMB.
John, the American people deserve openness and accountability in their government, and that’s what CREW is fighting for. Can you support CREW by making a contribution today?
