This is a moral disgrace. The IRS’s new collaboration with ICE is designed to stoke fear, suppress participation, and drive people deeper into the shadows. It is a textbook example of government overreach with racist, xenophobic roots.

Congress must take immediate action to stop this dangerous deal. They must pass legislation that reaffirms the IRS’s sole purpose as a revenue agency, not an enforcer of immigration policy. And they must restore public trust in a tax system that relies on the honesty and courage of all who contribute to this country, regardless of status.

Tell Congress: Reinstate the firewall. Block the IRS from becoming ICE’s weapon.

Let’s be clear: this policy does nothing to enhance public safety. It does everything to criminalize, isolate, and terrorize communities that are already vulnerable.
