On this Tax Day, we’re thinking about how millions of Americans were able to claim billions of dollars in residential clean energy tax credits last year—a huge win for our climate, our health, and our wallets.

But we’re also thinking about how Republicans are actively trying to gut these popular credits and other clean energy investments made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). They’re likely to try just as soon as Congress is back in session later this month.

Lena and I have been meeting with members of Congress on the importance of protecting IRA programs, and now is a critical moment for constituents like you to weigh in too by making a quick phone call. And hey, I know that picking up the phone isn’t always easy. But the extra effort—even if you go right to voicemail—is what makes it one of the best advocacy tools in your arsenal.

Because every call to a congressional office is logged, counted, and reported. Because lawmakers know that public opinion influences their chances of getting re-elected.

Right now, every Republican needs to feel the heat for planning to repeal these historic investments and the hundreds of thousands of local jobs that come along with them. And every Democrat needs to hear the importance of these programs too, so that they’ll keep fighting for them.
