*MADISON, Wis.* – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) celebrates the close of another successful snowmobile season.

Although snow conditions proved challenging at times, Wisconsin continues to rank among the top snowmobiling states in the country, with more than 200,000 registered machines for each license year. This season, thanks to the work of a dedicated core of volunteer safety instructors, more than 2,300 students were certified through in-person classes. That means safer trails and more fun for everyone.

Visit the DNR website [ [link removed] ] to learn more about becoming a volunteer safety instructor.

Additionally, the DNR Division of Public Safety and Resource Protection successfully implemented two Sled Safe campaign weekends focused on snowmobile safety and enhanced enforcement. The two weekend campaigns resulted in nearly 1,000 miles of trails and more than 50 lakes being patrolled. Ten stranded or distressed snowmobilers were assisted, and two intoxicated operators were removed from public areas.

If you’d like to get more involved in snowmobiling, consider joining a local club [ [link removed] ] or becoming a volunteer safety instructor [ [link removed] ]. The off-season is a great time to prepare for next year and give back to the community.
