Dear Friend,

I wanted to provide an update on the work I am doing in the House of Representatives to represent the great people of Maryland's First Congressional District and to advance commonsense, conservative legislation in Washington, D.C.

Putting the Will of the People Ahead of Judicial Activism:

The American people are witnessing federal judges issue nationwide injunctions that block President Trump from implementing the America First policy agenda he was elected to do. Last week, House Republicans passed the No Rogue Rulings Act which prevents partisan judges from abusing their authority and issuing politically motivated nationwide injunctions. We cannot allow activist federal judges to continue to subvert the will of the American people.

Defending the Integrity of American Elections from Noncitizen Voting:

The right to vote is a foundational principle of the United States of America, and its integrity must be protected. Currently, federal law states that it is illegal for foreign nationals or noncitizens to vote in U.S. federal elections or donate with regards to federal, state, or local elections. However, noncitizens continue to unlawfully register to vote, diluting the votes of American citizens and potentially allowing foreign interference in our elections.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act) amends the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, requiring individuals to provide proof of United States citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections.

It was great to welcome Wicomico County Executive, Julie Giordano and Wicomico County Director of Administration, Bunky Luffman to my Washinton, DC office to discuss important issues that impact Wicomico County.

Visit to Talisman Therapeutic Riding:

I had a wonderful visit with Talisman Therapeutic Riding in Grasonville, Maryland. Their mission is to transform lives by fostering personal growth and healing through equine-assisted activities. I was thankful for their time in showing me their facility and am grateful they are here serving my constituents on the Eastern Shore.

Meeting With Representatives from the Oyster Recovery Program:

I also had a great meeting with representatives from the Oyster Recovery Program, oyster processors, and watermen. Oysters are the life blood of the Chesapeake Bay, and we must all work together to keep their population healthy.

Outlining The Next Step on Budget Reconciliation:

In the reconciliation process, there are two steps: 1) passing the budget resolution that unlocks the committees' ability to develop legislation, and 2) implementing reconciliation legislation. Last week, the House passed the Senate-amendment to the budget resolution which lays the foundation for the reconciliation bill.

Thanks to the efforts of House Freedom Caucus Members and fellow fiscal conservatives, we are now on a path to pass a reconciliation bill that that is fiscally responsible.

After hearing our concerns, the White House committed to historic spending reductions. In addition, the Speaker committed to ensuring the final bill will provide enough spending reduction so that tax cuts will be fully offset.

This is a win for the American people and sets the stage to deliver massive tax relief, unleash domestic energy production, fully fund border security and our military, while also securing unprecedented spending reduction.
