John,
We know firsthand that hyperpartisanship doesn’t solve the real problems our community faces. All it does is divide us, instill hate, and endanger our core values.
I’ve been named one of the most bipartisan members of Congress because that principle is central to my work, and I always strive to be an independent voice for Southwest Washington –
that’s why I voted no on the latest budget framework.
Here’s the thing: you can’t claim to champion fiscal responsibility while pushing for a budget that adds nearly $5.8 trillion to the national debt in order to cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans. I simply can’t support a plan that guts programs that advance our national health, like Medicaid and food programs, just to pad the pockets of the top 0.1% of earners.
That’s just reckless and wasteful. Working families see right through the guise that the far right wants them to believe, and they deserve better.
John, I’ll keep working across the aisle to uphold our shared values and deliver results on the issues that really matter to Southwest Washingtonians, whether it’s bringing down everyday costs, uplifting the middle class, or supporting rural communities.
We have a lot of work to do – and I’m grateful to have you on our team as we continue forging ahead.
– Marie
