This needs to get more national attention, John: Last week, the House of Representatives passed the SAVE Act, an extreme anti-voter bill that could disenfranchise millions of Americans.
Here’s the good news though: We have a real chance to stop it in the Senate. But that’ll require every member of this grassroots team stepping up when it matters most.
All On The Line is mobilizing activists to speak out across the country, from calling their members of Congress to submitting letters to the editor about why the SAVE Act would be so harmful to our democracy. With so much at stake, we must throw everything we can into this fight before it’s too late. So we’re asking:

Despite its name, the “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility” (SAVE) Act would do absolutely nothing to make our elections safer. Instead, it would put up barriers designed to prevent millions of eligible voters from casting their ballot by:
• Requiring all eligible Americans to provide proof of citizenship chiefly by presenting a passport or birth certificate when registering to vote;
• Upending online voter registration, a practice in 42 states;
• Making it likely impossible for Americans to register to vote by mail; and
• Putting an end to many voter registration drives nationwide
If it passes the Senate and is signed into law, these changes would disproportionately impact military voters, rural voters, tribal citizens, survivors of natural disasters, working-class Americans, and the tens of millions of married women who have changed their names. About half of American citizens — nearly 150 million citizens — do not have a passport, and elderly Americans are one of the demographics least likely to have one.
The SAVE Act is one of the biggest threats to voting rights we’ve seen in a generation — and we must do everything we can to prevent it from becoming law.
