While some billionaires and many elected officials are trying to cut public goods like Medicaid, food assistance and labor protections, Arise is clear-eyed about our mandate to protect dignity, equity and justice for all Alabamians.
We’re more than halfway through Alabama’s 2025 legislative session. Thanks to members like you, in the midst of this uncertainty, we are making progress for Alabama’s kids and families – from birth to old age. Together, we are advancing policies to: -
Make it easier for pregnant Alabamians to get health coverage by removing red tape around Medicaid’s “presumptive eligibility” rule. (Thanks to your support, this bill has passed both chambers and is on its way to the governor!)
- Ensure parents and their newborns get the time they need together by creating paid parental leave protections for teachers and state employees. (Thanks to advocacy by folks like you, this has been signed into law!)
- Feed hungry children with an opt-in program for no-cost school breakfast at public schools across the state.
