BANGOR - The Maine Department of Transportation will be performing emergency work on the bridges that carry I-95 traffic over Broadway in Bangor. We will be closing Broadway to all traffic beginning on Monday, April 14th. This closure will occur between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

This closure is required so crews can perform emergency repairs of the bridge rail on I-95 that was damaged on Thursday, April 10th. Traffic on I-95 will not be impacted. During this time, a detour will be in effect that directs northbound traffic to Exit 186 and redirected to Broadway via Stillwater Avenue. Southbound traffic will be directed to Exit 184, and redirected to Broadway via Union, St., Hammond St., and Stage St. Message boards will advise motorists of the closure. Pedestrian traffic will be guided by flaggers stationed at the project location.

On-site construction for this bridge replacement project began in June 2023. This project is a comprehensive, multi-year initiative, involving bridge replacements and intersection enhancements. This project is scheduled for completion in late 2026.
