Montana Republicans have introduced bills to force judicial candidates to run as a member of a political party five times this year — and they still aren’t giving up.

Listen, Montana Democrats understand that it doesn’t matter what party you vote for: We’re all sick and tired of blind partisanship in our government. But by attempting to inject partisan politics into our judicial system, Republicans want to give political parties unprecedented influence over the courts. That shouldn’t be how the law works, John.

Every Montanan deserves an impartial and nonpartisan judicial system — and no judge should be forced to toe a party line to keep their job. That’s why Montana Democrats have unanimously voted down every effort to make judicial elections partisan.

But we want to be clear: This legislative session isn’t over yet, and we know extreme Republicans won’t give up their fight to politicize our courts. That’s why we’re humbly asking:
