I’ve got some news to share.

Over the past few months, I’ve received a level of support from people that I’ve never experienced before, so I wanted to reach out to share more and get your input on what our movement should focus on in the coming months and year.

When Trump took office, I never expected to be one of the leading voices in the opposition to him. I figured it would be shared by a lot of us in Congress, but when Trump and Musk sparked what I saw as a constitutional crisis, the choice was easy for me — fight back as hard as possible. We cannot be silent as democracy unravels.

I say this because I want you to know my actions were not some self-serving strategic calculation. I simply thought that Democrats like myself had to step up and do everything within our power to stop the corruption and billionaire takeover of government.

Ultimately, the response was beyond anything I had imagined. In the first quarter of this year, our movement raised $8 million to support my efforts at building this opposition movement. We did that with an average donation of under $30, and 85% of those who gave were first-time donors. It’s an amount of trust in me and responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I pledge to be a good steward of these resources.

So I’m going to spend this money. Right now, at this moment of peril. The most important thing we can do right now is to support grassroots mobilizing and organizing efforts across the country. If we are going to win the fights ahead — protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, stop Trump and Musk from breaking our democracy so they can steal from you and enrich themselves, and prevent Republicans from passing another billionaire tax cut at your expense - we need tens of thousands of people to get involved.

Grassroots donations made all of this possible, so I want to get input directly from people like you on how we can best utilize our resources to accomplish our movement’s objectives.

So I asked my team to put together a survey — a real one that will inform how we invest these resources. I want to give everyone a chance to make their voice heard, and then we’ll review the results to make some decisions.

There are quite a few options here, and my intention is that we invest something in all of these options. But your input tells my team and me where we should put in the bulk of our time and energy.

So please, take a moment to take our strategy survey to share what fights you most want our opposition movement to be involved in. Your input will directly impact how we invest our resources to fight back against Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

I cannot say thank you enough for your trust in me and belief in my leadership in this moment. I know many of you wanted to see more from elected Democratic leaders this year.

I believe you deserve leaders with the courage and willingness to meet the demands of this historic moment — a five-alarm fire for democracy. But it would be impossible for me to overstate just how awestruck I am by the response I’ve gotten from you so far this year.
