DC Emancipation Day is a powerful reminder of the courage and determination of those who have fought for freedom—and a call to continue that work today.

As part of this year’s Emancipation Day celebrations, we invite you to “DC Emancipation Day Speak Out: Standing Together to Fight the Power.” This important gathering will focus on protecting Home Rule, preserving federal jobs and services, and investing in local DC communities.

Join us at Metropolitan AME Church on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 5:30 PM for a panel discussion and community conversation.

This event is presented by WPFW 89.3 FM, the Federal Unionists Network, Free DC, the Metropolitan Washington Council AFL-CIO, the Anacostia Coordinating Council, Harriet's Wildest Dreams, the Washington Informer, Defend DC, and DC Jobs With Justice.
