It’s been a busy week of scrutinizing federal spending and the judiciary, and codifying executive orders. Here’s a brief update on the important work we are doing to advance conservative principles and the America First agenda.
The House passed a budget resolution, by a vote of 216-214, for fiscal year 2026 appropriations to be the blueprint for codifying President Trump’s America First agenda. This paves the way for $1.5 trillion in spending and DOGE cuts, sweeping deregulation, border security improvements, and the extension of President Trump’s 2017 middle-class tax cuts. With the House and Senate aligned, we can begin the reconciliation process where both chambers hammer out a final, substantive budget without the worry of obstructionist Democrats filibustering. Throughout this drawn-out and debate-filled process, one thing is certain: President Trump and House Republicans are ready to deliver on fiscal responsibility—exactly what we were elected to do.
The House Education and Workforce Committee advanced two important bills to move President Trump’s executive orders into law and reassert parental authority and rights. The Say No to Indoctrination Act blocks federal funding for schools that push gender ideology. The PROTECT Kids Act requires elementary and middle schools to get parental consent before changing a child’s name or pronouns or risk losing federal dollars. For too long, the Department of Education has allowed radical left-wing ideology to seep into our classrooms by confusing kids, fueling identity crises, and shutting parents out. Schools are not the place for young children to hear about gender identity or sexuality from educators or administrators. And there’s never a reason to keep parents in the dark about their own children. My Democrat colleagues argue these bills are harmful to students’ mental health. But they are completely wrong. These bills restore parents’ rights to protect their children and raise them according to their own values.
House Republicans also passed the No Rogue Rulings Act. This legislation reins in activist judges by stopping them from issuing nationwide injunctions. Federal district court judges should not have the power to shut down policies nationwide. That’s not how our system is supposed to work, but it's a tactic the Left is using to sabotage President Trump’s second term. Since January, the Trump administration has faced more than 15 nationwide injunctions—more than Biden did in four years. Activist judges have tried to stand in the way of enforcing immigration laws and rolling back DEI mandates. The No Rogue Rulings Act ensures that court decisions apply only to the parties involved, not the entire country. It restores the proper balance between the courts and the elected branches of government. This is a major win for the America First agenda and why I voted with my Republican colleagues to pass this bill. Now it’s the Senate’s turn to approve it and send it to President Trump’s desk.
