Oklahoma,
This week, the GOP Senate confirmed my friend, Elbridge Colby, as the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. In this role, he will be a lead strategist behind standing up to China in the Indo-Pacific region and bad actors in the Middle East. Additionally, we continued to put President Trump's and his cabinet's subordinate positions in place. Behind every good leader is a strong team, and we're building a rockstar lineup of undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, and various directors to execute the MAGA mandate.

On Tuesday, the Senate GOP confirmed Elbridge Colby as Under Secretary for Defense for Policy. He'll work hand in hand with us, the president, and Secretary Hegseth to keep America safe. After four years of Joe Biden bending the knee to hostile adversaries like China and Iran, Bridge’s confirmation is a necessary part of the Trump Administration’s mission to restore peace through strength.
You may have seen headlines this week about U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley's (R-IA) bill to bring tariff authority back to Congress. Here’s the reality: our economy moves fast, and Congress moves very slowly. The president needs flexibility to adapt without being caught in excess bureaucracy. Thankfully, President Trump is the first leader to stand up to those taking advantage of America, and he’s executing the ‘Art of the Deal.’ Oklahomans elected this president by historic margins, and Congress must stand as a strong partner to enact the America First agenda.
I recorded a video to break down the latest on tariffs here.
Last week, early Saturday morning, the Senate passed a budget resolution for the first step of President Trump's 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill' approach. Yesterday, the GOP House successfully passed our Trump-endorsed budget framework. Now that the budget framework is complete, we can move forward with tax cuts, border security measures, and unleashing American energy to lower costs. While the House and Senate function very differently, we are UNITED on delivering the promises we made to the American people in November.
Watch me break down the process here.

On Tuesday, I had a productive visit with the Norman Chamber of Commerce. I say it all the time—I’m grateful to the communities who come up to Washington. If you’re not telling your story, no one else will! After giving a brief update, I answered questions from Norman leaders. We spoke about DOGE cuts, infrastructure projects in Norman, and the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to return power and authority to the states. I appreciate everyone who made the trip. While our family is a Pokes/Sooner house divided, I now find myself in Norman regularly as our son, Andrew, attends the University of Oklahoma.
We have a saying in our family: "God, Family, and Everybody Else." After starting the week in Washington, on Wednesday, I needed to be back in Oklahoma with my beautiful wife, Christie for her reconstructive knee surgery. Thankfully, she’s recovering well.
Christie takes care of all of us 24/7, so it was time to take care of her. Before I left town, I recorded a quick video on my responsibility as a father and a husband.
Watch me explain in more detail here.

Tuesday evening, I, along with U.S. Senators Katie Britt (R-AL), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Tim Scott (R-SC), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Tom Cotton (R-AR), John Kennedy (R-LA), and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) joined Fox News’ Sean Hannity on a special edition of Hannity to unpack President Trump’s first 100 days in office and urge the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Trump-endorsed Senate budget resolution. I defended the actions the president has taken on trade, pointed out the lies the Democrats are spreading, and explained the process of unlocking reconciliation to pass the Trump agenda.

On Monday, the Oklahoma Congressional delegation joined survivors and family members of the victims of the Oklahoma City Bombing in a Commemorative Survivor Tree Dedication Ceremony on the United States Capitol Grounds. Almost 30 years ago, on April 19, 1995, Oklahoma's Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City experienced the largest, domestic terrorist attack in U.S. history. I'll never forget working cattle that day and feeling the Earth shake. Shortly after, my dad called me to the house to see the tragedy on television. We lost 168 Oklahomans on that horrible day, but out of the absolute devastation came our Oklahoma Standard. Nobody shows up for neighbors and loved ones like Oklahomans. The tree, a sapling of Oklahoma's famous Survivor Tree, was planted just paces from the Capitol's summerhouse and will stand as a reminder of resilience in the face of adversity to all who pass by.
