Scouting America Camporee

Congressman Sessions and Scouts at Camp Tahuaya

Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending the Scouting America Camporee at Camp Tahuaya. As an Eagle Scout and the father of two Eagle Scouts, Scouting has always been close to my heart. Scouting is a tradition that has shaped my values and my appreciation for the outdoors. Scouting equips our youth with lifelong skills: leadership, responsibility, service, and a respect for nature and community. I left Camp Tahuaya inspired by the next generation of leaders and proud to be part of a tradition that continues to build character in so many.

National Association of Postal Supervisors

Congressman Sessions addresses the National Association of Postal Supervisors
This Monday, I had the privilege of addressing the National Association of Postal Supervisors, a group whose leadership is essential to maintaining dependable mail service across the country. Postal supervisors play a vital role in keeping our postal system running smoothly, and it was an honor to thank them for their dedication and hard work. Their tireless commitment ensures that the USPS can work to fulfill its mission of delivering to every address in America. I hope to see the USPS thrive and serve our communities for generations to come under the leadership of dedicated postal supervisors.

Deep East Texas Council of Governments

Congressman Sessions meeting with DETCOG
On Tuesday, the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) visited to discuss the importance of re-authorizing the SRS, or Secure Rural Schools and Communities Act. For over 100 years, 25% of revenue raised on National Forests would be shared with the counties that contained these forests for use on county roads and public schools, however it now requires re-authorizing by Congress. The SRS is essential for our rural forest communities. TX-17 is home to three beautiful National Forests and the rural counties that surround them. We must protect these communities by re-authorizing the SRS. I am a cosponsor of H.R. 1383, which will reauthorize the SRS to strengthen and support our rural communities.

Association of United States Postal Lessors

This week, I met with members of the Association of United States Postal Lessors. Over 20,000 US Post Offices are leased from postal lessors. Their role is essential to the functioning of our postal system by leasing buildings to be used by the USPS to ensure the delivery of mail across the country. Postal lessors are a historic partner in maintaining the infrastructure that allows our postal service to operate smoothly and effectively.

Oversight of the FDA

Congressman Sessions speaks in Tuesday's Oversight hearing

This week, I participated in a House Oversight Committee hearing entitled, “Restoring Trust in FDA: Rooting Out Illicit Products” to address the serious risks posed by dangerous products like hemp-derived intoxicants like Delta-8 THC. These products are widely available under current federal law, often with no age restrictions. Shockingly, a child can legally buy THC-infused snacks at a gas station. Many of these products are packaged to look like popular candy and snacks, appealing directly to children. Between 2021 and February 2025, poison control centers handled over 10,000 cases related to Delta-8 THC. I confronted the Hemp Roundtable for supporting companies that market these dangerous products to kids. I will keep fighting to protect families and public health. You can watch my remarks from the hearing here.

Legislation of the Week

H.R. 1526→ No Rogue Rulings Act
I voted YES on this legislation to rein in the power of activist judges by limiting the ability of a single district judge to issue a nationwide injunction.

H. Con. Res. 14→ FY25 Budget Resolution
The budget resolution is the first step in delivering President Trump's America First agenda to lower taxes for hardworking Americans. I voted YES.

H.R. 22→ Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act
I was proud to vote YES on the SAVE Act, a commonsense bill that ensures only American citizens can vote in American elections. There has been a lot of misinformation about this legislation, so please see the facts.

The SAVE Act:
Protects against foreign interference in our elections
Provides six different ways to verify citizenship
Removes non-citizens from voter rolls
Does not prevent married women or any eligible citizen from voting

This bill is about safeguarding the foundation of our democracy. Despite its straightforward and reasonable approach, 208 of my colleagues across the aisle voted no. I will continue to stand for secure elections and the right of every American citizen to have their voice heard.
