Friends,
Looking ahead to Passover, a celebration of freedom and liberation, everyone at J Street is reflecting on the lessons the Jewish people have learned from our own oppression. These teachings are more salient than ever as we tackle the profound challenges we’re facing.
As Jews across the world gather around the seder table, we’re thinking of the many who will be missed. Prime Minister Netanyahu has moved to reignite the war in Gaza while 59 hostages are still suffering in captivity and war-weary Gazan families are caught in the middle of continued bombardments and deprived of humanitarian aid.
A majority of Israelis want to see an end to the war with the hostages released. J Street continues to lift up their message in the United States – urging lawmakers and communal leaders to push the decision makers to restart the ceasefire and work toward an agreement that provides security and freedom to both Israelis and Palestinians and removes the tyrannical Hamas from power in Gaza.
Passover also serves as a warning about the dangers of authoritarianism.
Of particular concern to so many of us is President Trump and his administration using our community’s genuine fears about the dramatic, global rise of antisemitism as a pretext to push an authoritarian agenda – policies that Jewish Americans overwhelmingly voted against and are filled with abuses that stand in stark contrast to the values we hold dear.
The fight against those fuelling antisemitism must be taken seriously. We cannot allow Trump and the MAGA movement to hijack it for their own distorted aims.
Trump, Elon Musk and their allies are bullying universities, attacking diversity, silencing dissent, deporting migrants without due process, cracking down on free speech and trampling our rights. It’s authoritarianism 101, and our community’s pain is being used to make it happen.
It’s unacceptable, which is why we’re counting on you to help us keep up the pressure.
J Street is committed to fighting back, bringing our voices to Capitol Hill, synagogues and Jewish spaces, campuses, and the media. In order to scale up these plans, we’re launching a major fundraising initiative – a $50,000 Passover fundraising goal.
Will you fund our work by helping us hit this crucial target?
Donations processed immediately for Express Lane users.
The success of this Passover campaign will help ramp up the pace of our work for the rest of 2025, leveraging the strength of our movement and our ability to form a meaningful resistance to Trump’s anti-democratic agenda, including the exploitation of our real fears about antisemitism.
Unlike the far-right factions in both America and Israel, we are not driven by mega donors – instead, we have thousands of motivated grassroots supporters like you, which is why we truly rely on the response we get to emails like this one to fund our work.
A contribution of $18, $36 or $90 or any other amount would go a long way toward helping us hit our target. I hope I can count on you to send yours.
Thank you, sincerely, for being part of this!
Wishing you and your families a meaningful Passover,
