John,
As Donald Trump and Elon Musk are gutting Social Security and veteran's benefits, Republicans in Congress just passed a budget resolution that will slash hundreds of billions from essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP.
Why? So they can fund tax cuts for themselves and their billionaire friends.
The good news: This budget is not close to being final. Budget reconciliation is a long process, leaving us time to organize members, activists, and representatives across the country to reject this budget and pass a fair one that protects working people.
The better news: House Republicans passed this resolution by just two votes. They desperately need to hold onto every last bit of support that they have — and we’re heading into a congressional recess that will put these representatives face to face with their constituents.
The BEST news: There are opportunities for you to make a major impact without even leaving your home!
Next week, Working Families Power is hosting virtual phone banks where members like you can reach voters in Republican districts and help them demand that their representatives vote against a budget that cuts taxes for billionaires and services for working families. RSVP to join the phone bank on Tuesday, April 15 at 2 PM ET/11 AM PT.

The budget resolution passed by Republicans today would be a disaster for working families. It would make it significantly harder for millions of Americans to access medical care when they’re sick or injured, put food on the table, and more. And all of it so that Elon Musk and the other self-serving billionaires in this country can hoard even more absurd amounts of money they could never spend.
Over the next two weeks, members of Congress will be in their home districts for recess, and we're making sure that they hear loud and clear from their constituents: no cuts for working families and no more tax cuts for billionaires. Sign up to make calls to voters in Republican districts and ask them to reach out to their Members of Congress!
