Hi John, Great news! Yesterday, AB 736 (Wicks) passed out of the first Assembly Housing Committee! Now, this critical legislation is one step closer to appearing on the November 2026 ballot. AB 736, better known as The 2026 Affordable Housing Bond Act, would place a $10 billion affordable housing bond on the ballot to fund affordable housing development for the following four years. We’re happy to celebrate and grateful for the leadership of Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, the Assembly Housing Committee, and the collective action powering this win. |

A History of Affordable Housing Solutions Since 1979, NPH has nurtured the seeds of the affordable housing industry, helping to build tens of thousands of vibrant communities. In 2018, NPH supported efforts that led to voters approving $6 billion for affordable housing via statewide Propositions 1 & 2. We were proud to organize the Bay Area coalition, which went on to win 64% (Prop 1) and 70% (Prop 2) at the polls. |

We've been fighting alongside you for decades for measures like this and we're thrilled to see AB 736 advance. Now is the time to continue to push for these game-changing affordable housing solutions, together! |
