Federal support of San Diego’s binational, housing, transportation, environmental, and business initiatives is critical for our city and the region. San Diego has a proud tradition of engaging with federal agencies to tell our story and sustain successful programs. This week, I joined the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual trip to DC—on my own expense—to ensure our region’s voice is heard. I met with the Department of Transportation, Department of State, Customs and Border Patrol, and Department of Housing and Urban Development. Despite the uncertainty created by the administration’s daily announcements, at the department level, conversations were productive. The work continues, but this was a successful trip.

The City of San Diego’s Engineering & Capital Projects Department launched a new website to help you stay informed on local infrastructure projects. With interactive dashboards, you can easily find updates on park improvements, street repairs, and much more.

RESIDENTIAL TRASH, RECYCLING, & ORGANIC SERVICES

On Monday, April 14, the City Council will hear an update on the Environmental Services Department’s trash service program and proposed rates. The ESD update incorporates public feedback collected since February 13 as well as sharpening their pencils on rates and proposed services. The purpose of the April 14th hearing is to set a public hearing date when the Council will formally adopt the rates and the associated services. The cost-of-service rate study is now available, and you can view more on the council item here.
