John, it has been a remarkably busy few weeks at the Supreme Court.

Among others, the justices heard arguments in:

  • Louisiana v. Callais/Robinson v. Callais, in which they may determine whether voters have a real say in who represents them.
  • FCC v. Consumers Research, in which they may give themselves the authority to unilaterally strip federal agencies of their power.
  • Catholic Charities Bureau, Inc. v. Wisconsin Labor & Industry Review Commission, in which they could hurt workers by allowing organizations to shirk a state law requiring employers to pay taxes that fund unemployment benefits.
  • Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, in which they may decide whether state politicians can purge qualified health care providers like Planned Parenthood from Medicaid programs, denying Medicaid recipients access to the providers they trust.

And all the while, cases are stacking up on the court’s shadow docket — giving the right-wing supermajority dangerous opportunities to make decisions about our rights and freedoms in secret.

Thanks and more soon,
