Spring shotgun turkey season opens April 12

This Saturday, April 12, will be an exciting one for turkey hunters across the state: It's the opening of spring shotgun season.

As you prepare, remember to use Telecheck [ [link removed] ] to report all harvests, and that the Public Access Atlas [ [link removed] ] can help you find a great place to hunt.

Safety should also never be far from your mind! Take a moment to review the four key rules of firearm safety, plus some guidelines specifically for turkey hunters.

Commission will consider big game hunting recommendations

Nebraska Game and Parks will consider proposed changes to big game hunting seasons at its next meeting, set for April 18 at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park. Staff will introduce recommendations for Nebraska's 2025 deer, antelope and elk hunting seasons, with reductions in specific permits.

Support trails, mental health awareness: Sign up for memorial run

Registration is open for the annual Tyler Vanderheiden Memorial Run, a local event that raises awareness of mental health and helps fund Nebraska state park trails.
