Hello Friend,

When I think about this past week, it feels like spring’s first thaw after a very bleak winter.

Our movement is demonstrating resolve and bringing forth a new season of hope. I’m most encouraged to see people from all backgrounds, parts of the country, and political affiliations come together to say “Enough is enough!”

This past weekend, over 3 million took to the streets across the country to protect our democracy, public lands, clean air and water, clean energy, and our environment. I was honored to speak at the DC Hands Off! rally and say “hands off!” to Trump and Musk on their front doorstep.

Climate champion Cory Booker gave the longest speech in Senate history — highlighting the terrible damage Donald Trump and Elon Musk are doing to our democracy, our climate, and our communities — and demonstrating the need for a government that focuses on people first. Urge your senators to follow his example and fight back against Trump and Musk’s policies.

And in the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court election, the people voted against a Trump/Musk agenda that’s raising costs, killing jobs, and making us sick. Elon Musk tried to buy this election, spending millions of dollars in an effort that the people of Wisconsin flatly rejected.

We the people decide elections, not billionaire donors. We demand lower costs, more clean energy, and a healthy, functioning democracy. And we’re making that known to anyone and everyone that is trying to undermine our future.

There’s an energy in the air; our movement has momentum. I’m not blind to the challenges we face or to the tough road ahead — we'll need to continue to bring this level of energy to make a difference. But these wins and actions show us that we have the power to fight back and win.

I’m excited for all the work we’ll do together. I hope you are, too.

Onward,

Pete Maysmith
