Dear Community Partner,

In light of recent developments, we find ourselves at a crucial juncture concerning student loan repayment programs. In February, a federal court issued an injunction preventing the U.S. Department of Education from implementing the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan and parts of other income-driven repayment (IDR) plans. Consequently, IDR and online loan consolidation applications are temporarily unavailable, causing significant challenges for many Americans, especially those who have recently lost their jobs.

Given this situation, we're reaching out to you to start a discussion on options for student loan borrowers. Is bankruptcy a viable path? How might a reduction in workforce or dismantling of the Department of Education affect debtors seeking assistance? And most importantly, what proactive steps can borrowers take during this uncertain time?

To address these critical questions, Consumer Action invites you to join our train-the-trainer webinar on April 16. This free 90-minute session will equip you with the knowledge to navigate the evolving landscape of student loan debt. Our panel, featuring distinguished experts such as Milo Schaberg from the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Sara Wilson of Student Connections, and Khandice Lofton from the Student Borrower Protection Center, will delve into the impacts of the injunction, state-level responses to the student loan crisis, the pros and cons of private student loans, and much more.

Additionally, Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) professionals can earn 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by attending this insightful webinar.
