Dear John,

Police must stop killing Black people.

That’s why Amnesty’s RightsNow! campaign is demanding systemic police reform to root out racism and stop human rights violations. We’re also working to defend the human rights of both the peaceful protestors against police violence and the journalists covering them.

Please make an emergency donation right now to support our efforts. Any amount you can chip in will make an impact.

John, I know you’ll agree that it is past time for Black people to be able to be safe and for Black lives to be equally protected before the law.

I know you’ll also agree that protesting peacefully is not a crime. It is a human right.

Right now, here in the United States, these rights are under violent threat. It’s urgent. It’s alarming. It must stop — now.

Amnesty has a long history protecting human rights including people’s right to peacefully protest and to stop unlawful killings by police—both in the U.S and globally.

Your support will help us:

  • Lobby Congress to pass the Police Exercising Absolute Care for Everyone (PEACE) Act, which would ensure a federal standard restricting the use of lethal force by police to a last resort and deny funds to states that do not enact the same use of force standard.
  • Demand systemic transformation of U.S. law enforcement to root out racism and stop human rights violations.
  • Document violations of the right to peaceful protest by police and advocate for human rights reforms to protect that right, including ending militarized policing.
  • Demand the rights of journalists to do their jobs without assaults and arrests by police.

John, we must come together to stop human rights violations against Black and brown communities who are disproportionately impacted by government violence as well as by the COVID-19 pandemic, and reject the militarized tactics being used to quell peaceful protesters. Please make an urgent donation now.

Thank you for joining us in our cause to protect human rights.

Sincerely,
Kristina Roth
