Dear John,

The threats created by requiring an ID to vote are higher than they’ve ever been.

At both the state and federal levels, we face a wave of new and stricter legislation that, if enacted, would add strict ID requirements to register and vote. Millions of voters risk losing their right to vote if we don’t work to stop these dangerous bills and mitigate the harm they cause.

VoteRiders is fighting back. That’s why we launched our advocacy initiative! We're now utilizing grassroots advocacy, expert testimony, and research revealing the harmful impacts of ID laws to stop or eliminate such laws that would otherwise suppress the vote.

Now, we need to raise $10,000 in April to meet the growing need for our advocacy initiative. Make your tax-deductible gift today and power our efforts to stop these destructive laws that could keep millions from exercising their freedom to vote.

Anti-democracy power brokers are funding multiple attempts to make voting more difficult and complicated through ID laws:
* The SAVE Act will likely be voted through the US House of Representatives this week. This voter suppression bill would wreak havoc on our national elections by requiring documentary proof of citizenship (like a passport or birth certificate) to even register to vote. Millions of eligible voters do not have ready access to these kinds of documents.
* "Californians for Voter ID," a group led by state Republicans via grassroots apparatus Reform California, is preparing to gather signatures to put a voter ID and proof of citizenship ballot referendum for a constitutional amendment before voters in November 2026. Initial polling and historical precedent indicate a strong likelihood of this moving forward and this deceptive referendum could pass unless we act now.
* In Texas , SB 16, which would require documentary proof of citizenship to register, has already passed in the state Senate and is poised to move forward in the state House of Representatives. VoteRiders submitted expert testimony and is working with partners to advocate against this, because if it’s enacted, it would make Texas elections even more confusing and difficult to participate in.

We’re also advocating for the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act in Congress, which would make it easier for eligible voters to vote, and push back against many voter suppression measures.

You can help us expand and protect the right to vote. Support our advocacy efforts with a generous donation today, and we’ll put it right to work stopping bills that would harm our democracy! >> [link removed]
