I recently sent a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to stand up for Wisconsin’s manufacturing sector and raise serious concerns about the agency’s unaccountable Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) program. Established in 1985, the IRIS program was intended to assess the impact of chemicals on human health. However, it was never authorized by Congress and has increasingly operated without proper oversight. In recent years, IRIS has relied on flawed scientific data, ignored critical information, and disregarded public input. Given these ongoing issues, my letter urges the EPA to reconsider the harmful effects of the IRIS program as it reexamines its priorities under the new Trump administration. The Trump Administration's EPA is committed to being fairer in balancing economic growth with environmental regulations. To ensure this goal is carried on under future Presidential Administrations, I have also reintroduced the No IRIS Act, to ensure chemical risk assessments are based on sound science rather than political or ideological agendas. This legislation will prevent the EPA from relying on IRIS assessments as the primary basis for its rulemaking, ensuring our safety, preserving a healthy environment, and creating more opportunities for American jobs. I look forward to working with the EPA to ensure that its regulations are grounded in accurate data, its chemical safety assessments meet the highest scientific standards, and its enforcement mechanisms are both strong and transparent.

Under current law, professional sports teams are allowed to use tax-exempt municipal bonds to fund stadium construction, a provision originally meant to help local governments fund essential public infrastructure projects, such as schools and hospitals. This loophole has enabled wealthy sports teams to use taxpayer dollars to fund the construction of billion-dollars stadiums. Since 2000, 43 stadiums have been funded this way, costing American taxpayers an estimated $4.3 billion in lost federal revenue. That is why I have introduced the bipartisan No Tax Subsidies for Stadiums Act, which will end this practice. Hard-working Americans shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill for billion-dollar stadiums. While sports infrastructure can add value to communities, taxpayer dollars shouldn’t have to subsidize these projects. If these types of stadiums are worth building, the teams should seek investments in the free market - without asking for an involuntary discount from taxpayers.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet, alongside the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government, held a joint hearing this week to explore the constitutional boundaries of judicial power. The focus was on recent temporary restraining orders and injunctions that have infringed on the rightful power of the President of the United States to enforce the law. Through my questioning, the witnesses affirmed that judicial activism is a relatively new idea that was not intended by the Founding Fathers. While I was glad to have taken part in this hearing that shed light on a problem within our federal government, I am disappointed that a hearing like this was necessary because individual judges have decided to abuse their position to advance a political agenda.

In 1818, President James Monroe signed the Flag Act, establishing the procedures for the design of the American flag. 13 stripes honoring the original colonies and a growing constellation of stars, each representing the admission of every new state from then on. The Stars and Stripes stand as a timeless symbol of freedom, unity, and resilience.

I had a great meeting with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation - diving deep into their incredible efforts to protect and preserve the breathtaking lakes of Wisconsin.
Fun fact: Wisconsin is home to some of the most well-preserved shipwrecks in the US!
