Hi Friends,
The Trump Administration has cut millions of dollars in funding to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). That’s money that goes to researchers trying to find cures to cancer, Alzheimer’s, and many more diseases that plague millions of people.
This is money that Congress has decided should be sent to the NIH, and Trump is trying to step in and stop it. It’s outrageous, but Republicans refuse to hold a hearing on the Trump Administration’s actions.
So we did.
Senator Baldwin of Wisconsin and I held a forum with other Democratic senators and expert witnesses to highlight just how harmful these cuts will be to America.
We heard heartbreaking stories of people who have been impacted by disease and just want this research to continue so other families don’t have to go through the same.
Every family has been touched by disease. Taking away this funding will only cause more suffering. It’s cruel.
I’ll continue to raise the alarm about how harmful these cuts will be and fight back against them.
