For three decades, Animal Outlook has been exposing what happens in the darkest corners of animal agriculture — and it's because of brave individuals like award-winning investigator Taylor Radig that we continue to expose the truth and inspire change.
Today, I want to share a powerful story of courage and justice that exemplifies our mission. In 2013, Taylor went undercover at Quanah Cattle Company ([link removed]) in Colorado, documenting horrific abuse of newborn calves — some still with umbilical cords attached. What she witnessed was so disturbing that even renowned animal welfare expert Dr. Temple Grandin called it "severe abuse" and "not acceptable."
Thanks to Taylor's unflinching dedication, three workers were charged with criminal animal cruelty and pleaded guilty. The judge, deeply affected by our footage, described the abuse as "disturbing to the court." Each defendant received two years of supervised probation, substantial fines, and mandatory education in making better choices.

This victory wasn't just about justice — it was about truth. Despite facing criminal charges herself (later dropped thanks to supporter advocacy), Taylor stood firm in her commitment to exposing these hidden cruelties. Her bravery earned her both the Whistleblower of the Year and the Patty Shenker Animal Rights Activist Award.
