Dear Friend,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update.
On Tuesday, House Republicans had two big
special elections in Florida. I want to congratulate my two new House
GOP colleagues, Randy Fine and Jimmy Patronis, on their victories. I
was with Speaker Johnson on Election night, and we heard from Randy,
who is ready to work to advance the America First agenda! The House
GOP looks forward to welcoming them to our Conference.

On Wednesday, President Donald J. Trump
signed an Executive Order enacting minimal but reciprocal trade
agreements—meaning fair tariffs, as shown in the chart below.

This is about putting American workers
first, ending trade imbalances, and ensuring our economy works for us,
not foreign interests. The goal is simple: truly fair trade—with
minimal tariffs worldwide, preferably zero over time.

I joined the “National Report” on
Newsmax to discuss the President’s actions and what that will
mean for the United States moving forward. Click
here or below to watch.

Additionally, I joined "The Dom Giordano
Show" on 1210 WPHT to discuss President Donald J. Trump’s new
trade strategy and how it will benefit American manufacturing,
investment, and national security. We also discussed the rise in
politically motivated rulings by district court judges—a growing
problem fueled by coordinated “judge shopping” to block President
Trump’s America First agenda. Click
here or below to listen to my interview on these issues and other
key topics we covered.

On Monday, I joined "The Evening Edit" on Fox
Business to expose the dangerous rhetoric coming from the
Left—elected officials, media pundits, and late-night comics who
aren’t even funny.
With no plan and no policy rebuttals, the Democrats’ fallback is
to agitate and inflame. It’s reckless—and it’s fueling real violence,
from the burning of the New Mexico GOP headquarters to Teslas being
torched across the country.
These actions must be condemned, but Democrat leadership’s
response has been weak and entirely insufficient. Click
here or below to watch my interview.
On Tuesday, House
Republicans had a productive
discussion with Secretary Scott Bessent.
He shared President Donald J.
Trump’s plan to reshape the economy by promoting
pro-growth policies, reducing wasteful spending, extending the
successful provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and maximizing
savings for taxpayers.
He also spoke about President Trump's intention to create a
global trade system built on reciprocity and fairness.
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Illegal crossings along the southern border
reached another
new low last month as President Donald J. Trump makes good on his
promise to stop the invasion and secure the homeland.

It’s called the “Trump
Effect.”
- In March, Border Patrol encountered just 7,181
illegal immigrants at the southern border.
- Compared to the same month under Biden, that represents a 95%
decrease from 2024 (137,473), a 96% decrease from 2023 (163,672), and
a 97% decrease from 2022 (211,181).
- The Los Angeles Times reports “migrant
crossings have slowed to a near halt” along the California-Mexico
border, where Border Patrol agents are making just “30 to 40 arrests
per day … down from more than 1,200 per day during the height of
migrant arrivals to the region in April.”

The Biden-Harris administration created a
crisis at the southern border. They lied to the American public and
said they needed Congress to pass legislation to put tools in place to
close the border. President Trump, without a single piece of
legislation being passed, has dramatically decreased the number of
border crossings. He is a leader, and this is just one more example of
him delivering on his promises to Make America Great Again.
During a Small Business Committee
hearing, I highlighted the regulatory burdens implemented over the
past four years that harmed small businesses. Fortunately, President
Trump is working to reverse this trend and enact pro-growth policies
that will allow our job creators to thrive.
One small business owner told us he saved
$11,000 last year thanks to Section 199A—a key provision of President
Donald J. Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act—and reinvested every dollar
into growing his company. That’s just one of countless real-world
examples demonstrating why these pro-small business provisions must be
extended. Click

The STABLE Act, led by Congressman
French Hill and Congressman Bryan
Steil, reinforces the U.S. dollar’s status
as the world’s reserve currency by ensuring stablecoins operate within
America's secure, dollar-backed framework. It will make payments
faster, cheaper, and more accessible, reducing costs to benefit
businesses and consumers alike.
President Trump promised to
make America the crypto capital of the world, and the STABLE Act is
the first step in delivering on that promise. Click

During a House Committee on Small
Business hearing this week, I heard
directly from industry professionals about the positive impact of the
SBIC program and its potential for future growth in America’s
heartland. Last year alone, SBICs provided over $8 billion in private
capital to small businesses nationwide, including $412.3 million for
Pennsylvania entrepreneurs.
Only about 20% of SBIC investments go to small businesses in
rural areas. That’s why I introduced the Investing in All America
Act—bipartisan legislation to expand access to capital for small
businesses in rural areas and those in the manufacturing and critical
technologies sectors. This legislation improves a successful
public-private partnership and supports SBA Administrator Kelly
Loeffler and President Trump's agenda to
fuel small business growth and reinvigorate domestic manufacturing. Click

It was great having my wife, Shelley, and some of her friends in
town for the Congressional Spouses Reception today. I couldn’t do this
job without her support, especially with the long hours and time spent
away from home. Spouses make real sacrifices, balancing family life
and constant travel, so we can fully focus on serving our
constituents. Thank you, Shelley!

I had a great conversation with Javier Estades, CEO of Tabacalera
USA—one of the largest premium cigar manufacturers in the world.
As Co-Chair of the Congressional Cigar Caucus, I’m committed to
fighting for small, family-owned businesses that make up the premium
cigar industry—from the Pennsylvania Broadleaf farms in my district to
specialty cigar shops nationwide. Federal overreach threatens this
proud tradition, and I’ll continue to push back to protect these businesses and the jobs they create.
Great meeting with BNY Mellon CFO Dermot McDonogh to discuss the
latest on international trade and the importance of the U.S. Treasury
market as a consistent source of liquidity for the global financial
system.
We also spoke about the importance of efficiency in the public
and private sectors and lessons from private businesses that the
government should apply to maximize the savings of taxpayer
dollars.
I enjoyed sitting down this week
with Dr. Terry Gilliland, President and CEO of Geisinger
Health System, in my Washington office. We discussed Geisinger’s
important footprint across Northeast and Central Pennsylvania and its
ongoing efforts to advance value-based care for all
patients.

It was great to join the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce for
this morning’s Legislative Breakfast. I shared an update on how House
Republicans are advancing policies that support small businesses and
strengthen our economy.
Alongside Congressman Bresnahan, we discussed both the challenges
and opportunities facing small businesses across Northeastern and
Central Pennsylvania. Thank you to Chamber President & CEO Mary
Malone for the invitation—I’ll continue advocating for policies
that empower entrepreneurs, drive economic growth, and remove
unnecessary obstacles that stand in the way of Main Street's
success.
I attended a lunch in Hershey with a group of community bankers
that serve small businesses, farmers, and many of the families in the
9th District. We discussed the legislative landscape, and repealing
overreaching Biden regulations. I want to thank Pennsylvania
Association of Community Bankers President/CEO Kevin Shivers,
Pennsylvania Bankers CEO/President Duncan Campbell, and all those in
attendance for a productive roundtable.
On Friday and Saturday, I attended the Pennsylvania Leadership
Conference—a cornerstone of the conservative
movement in our Commonwealth.
For years, the PLC has brought together leaders, activists, and
policymakers to advance the cause of liberty, limited government, and
the American Dream. Thanks to Lowman Henry and the entire team for
organizing another incredible event.
Congratulations to RJ Harris on receiving the Frederick W. Anton
III “Patriot of the Year” Award—a well-deserved recognition for his voice
and leadership in our movement.
The energy was real. The mission is clear. Let’s keep
building.
(Pictured below with former Trump Press Secretary Kayleigh
McEnany, RJ Harris, and State Treasurer Stacy Garrity)
On Saturday morning, I addressed the
convention, where I discussed how the road to winning in 2025—and
beyond—starts now.
We need strong, accountable, forward-looking leadership in
Pennsylvania. Leadership that puts our state on par with the best in
the nation—on the economy, education, infrastructure, energy, and
public safety.
To get there, we must first enact President Trump's plan to
create a new Golden Age for America—and bring that same energy and
execution to the Commonwealth.
Together, we can deliver a Pennsylvania-First Agenda
that works for every family and every small business.
Let’s stay involved. Let’s stay together. And let’s win the
future for Pennsylvania and our country. Click

On Monday, we paused to remember the
third anniversary of the tragic murder of Lebanon City Police Lt.
William Lebo in the line of duty while responding to a domestic
disturbance—just 30 days from retirement. After four decades of
service, he gave his life protecting the city of Lebanon.
I stand with his wife, Lora, family,
friends, and law enforcement community in honoring his legacy.
Last year, I was pleased to pass a bill
renaming the 101 South 8th Street Post Office in Lebanon as the
“Lieutenant William D. Lebo Post Office Building” in his memory. I
look forward to its dedication ceremony in mid-May, ensuring his
sacrifice is never forgotten. We must remember those in uniform who
give everything to keep our communities safe.

May God continue to bless our nation. I
look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan
