Email from Rep. McCaul Texas is Back! Record Low Illegal Border Crossings in March Month after month, the Trump administration continues to prove that deterrence works. In March, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported a historic low of approximately 7,180 illegal border crossings — a dramatic reduction from the monthly average of 155,000 during President Biden's tenure. As someone who has worked on border security issues for more than 25 years, I have never seen crossings this low. This 95% decrease is a testament to the dedication of our brave border patrol agents and to President Trump’s strong immigration policies, which are restoring order to the chaos caused by the Biden administration’s reckless open border. The federal government under President Trump's leadership is doing its job — securing our homeland and protecting our communities. This is fantastic news for Texans, who have shouldered the brunt of the border crisis for far too long. I look forward to seeing more safety and prosperity for our state in the months and years to come! Click here to read more. McCaul on the Rio Grande during a trip to the Texas border The Key to Deterring CCP Aggression in the Indo-Pacific and Beyond This week, the Chinese Communist Party escalated its intimidation campaign with aggressive joint army, navy and rocket force exercises in the South China Sea surrounding Taiwan — a stark reminder of the growing threat posed by Communist China. CCP leaders also attacked Taiwan's democratically elected leader with dehumanizing language, calling their president a "parasite." Under the Biden administration, the United States failed to deter China's use of cheap intimidation tactics, increased aggression, and belligerence in the South China Sea, which threaten U.S. interests in the region and risk a broader conflict. As a result, the CCP has been emboldened for four years. And as it races to outpace the United States in technological and military dominance, strengthening AUKUS — the security pact between the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia — is more critical than ever. While I was chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I consistently championed this crucial partnership, which will bolster our national security and help revitalize our failing defense industrial base. Under President Trump’s leadership, revitalizing this alliance will help restore deterrence, secure vital supremacy in the high-tech space, and avoid a catastrophic World War III scenario.
