Healthcare: Rather than squandering the time, political capital, and money needed to enact a "Medicare for All" plan, Michael urges Congress to build on the ACA then turning its attention to pressing matters such as climate change and infrastructure.

Education: As a former superintendent in Denver's public schools, Michael says he first considers how policies would affect the students he used to serve. To that end, he says he'd prioritize federal assistance for states to offer free preschool.

Immigration: As a member of the Senate "Gang of Eight" that got 68 Senate votes for bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform legislation in 2013, Michael speaks with authority on the issue and still embraces this approach.

Michael knocked it out of the ballpark with this interview. But it's not news to us.
