Dear John,

I wanted to reach out and give you an update on my work in Congress while I was in Washington this week. Keep scrolling for some updates.

ICYMI: Telephone Town Hall

On Tuesday, I hosted a telephone town hall and took questions from constituents on a range of issues while I was in Washington. If you tuned in, thank you for joining. We had over 12,000 people join on the phone with thousands more joining via Facebook livestream.

If you weren’t able to join, you can listen to the recording here and I hope you can join the next one.

Legislative Update:

This week, I introduced a bipartisan bill to help seniors on Medicare access more flexible treatment options and save themselves from unnecessary, and often costly, trips to the emergency room.

The bill is called the Comprehensive Alternative Response for Emergencies (CARE) Act, and would allow seniors on Medicare to receive at-home emergency medical services to treat minor medical incidents by creating a model that reimburses Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers delivering treatment in place and not just reimburse when Medicare patients are transported to the hospital.

For some patients, an emergency room visit may not be necessary and can place additional burdens on our first responders and health care providers in the hospital. For many, including seniors on Medicare, treatment in place is more viable, saves time and money, and increases the availability of first responders. These options also save seniors a trip to the emergency room that can result in long wait times, increased costs, and potentially life-threatening complications. I urge my colleagues to join me and pass this bill.

Deadline Soon: Congressional Art Competition:

I'm not sure if you heard, but I am inviting high school artists who reside in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District to participate in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition!

This annual nationwide contest showcases the creativity of young artists, and the winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year, plus they will also receive a trip to Washington, D.C. for the national celebration. As the Co-Chair of the Congressional Humanities Caucus, welcoming the next generation of artists to share their talents on Capitol Hill is personally important to me. The deadline to submit a piece is Monday, April 14 at 5 pm.
