"The science should not prematurely be declared settled. Regulators should not be given the power to fundamentally reshape American life without democratic approval."

Energy is the lifeblood of society. Taxing energy is taxing civilization.

Must Read Alaska (4/1/25) op-ed: "The North Slope is once again booming with activity. Producers are investing billions and introducing new technologies to maximize production from legacy fields like Prudhoe Bay and develop major new oil fields such as Willow and Pikka. Despite four challenging years under the previous federal administration, this energy renaissance has been made possible by a steady tax regime in Alaska that has allowed producers to engage in long-term planning and make substantial long-term investments. Unfortunately, where many see success and opportunity for new growth, some politicians in Juneau see only an ill-advised opportunity to increase taxes. A legislative proposal currently making its way through the Alaska Legislature, Senate Bill 112, takes direct aim at Alaska’s energy producers by rolling back competitive policies to maximize production. If passed, this proposal would jeopardize investments on the North Slope and take hundreds of millions of dollars away from the projects that promise to strengthen Alaska’s energy future and economy. Another tax increase making its way through the Legislature, Senate Bill 92, targeting independently owned oil and gas companies, such as Hilcorp, despite them making substantial investments in Prudhoe Bay, Milne Point, and in the Cook Inlet while others were pulling back and leaving the state."

It's time for Congress to act and save our cars.

Fox News (4/3/25) reports: "A key House committee is moving to block one of former President Joe Biden's parting gifts to the U.S.'s largest progressive stronghold. Rep. John Joyce, R-Pa., vice chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, introduced a resolution of disapproval on Wednesday night targeting a Biden administration-era waiver granted to California that would help the state realize its goal of a full ban on the sale of new gas cars by 2035. It's backed by committee Chairman Brett Guthrie, R-Ky., who called the Biden administration waiver a 'de facto EV mandate' for the Golden State...'Despite misleading reports, the Congressional Review Act is crystal clear: once an agency action is submitted to Congress, it is Congress—and Congress alone—that holds the unassailable power to approve or disapprove that action,' American Energy Alliance President Tom Pyle said last month. 'The GAO’s role is purely advisory, with no legal authority to block Congress from exercising its constitutional duty.'"

Who would have thought?

E&E News (4/3/25) reports: "Elon Musk could soon step back from his role as front man for the Trump administration’s government-cutting work, but DOGE doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. President Donald Trump has told his allies that Musk will be stepping back from his current role, POLITICO reported this week. The White House denied that Musk’s departure is imminent, although Musk is serving as a temporary government employee, and he and Trump have both signaled recently that Musk’s role is likely to change...Some conservatives credit Musk for getting the ball rolling on a dramatic government reshaping at a scope that other politicians have promised but couldn’t deliver. 'The entire beginning was helpful,' Tom Pyle, president of the conservative think tank Institute for Energy Research, said of Musk’s early DOGE approach. 'You cannot make change in Washington incrementally.' In some ways, Musk — who’s 'impervious to a lot of things because of his wealth' — “'took the slings and arrows for President Trump in this process” during DOGE’s early days, Pyle said. But Trump wasn’t “trying to distance himself from the effort,' Pyle added. Rather, he said, the president 'embraced it.'"
