The Trump administration fired every single staff member of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) that helps millions of families keep their heat and air conditioning on.¹

These layoffs will jeopardize energy assistance for thousands of Pennsylvania families at a time when our energy bills are skyrocketing and our summers are getting hotter.²

Without this program, folks will be forced to decide whether to buy groceries or keep the heat or air on — all to pay for Trump’s tax cuts for billionaires. 

Here’s the plan. We've already seen that public pressure works — the Trump Administration has been quietly rehiring civil servants in response to public backlash.³ If we speak out loud enough, we can force Congress to restore the LIHEAP team so they can get these critical funds flowing again.

We need to send a huge message now. Contact your members of Congress NOW and demand they restore LIHEAP staff and release Pennsylvania’s funding before families are hit with the next hottest summer on record.

LIHEAP has been a lifeline for Pennsylvanians for decades. It was designed to keep people safe, healthy, and housed — especially during extreme weather conditions. But without staff to administer the program, it simply won’t function. That means thousands of families will be left scrambling, just as the cost of electricity is expected to skyrocket.

Turning off people’s air and heat isn’t about making the government more efficient or rooting out fraud. It’s about serving the greed of the ultra rich at the expense of hardworking folks – even if it costs them their lives.

The Trump administration is going to want to bury this news – we can’t let them. If enough people contact their members of Congress in protest, these staff can absolutely get rehired – we’ve seen it happen. 

Send your members of Congress a message today and demand they restore LIHEAP staff to ensure funds reach the families who need them.
